Five Benefits of Invisalign

There are many ways to say “Happy Holidays” and most of them come with a warm, friendly smile. Unfortunately, not everyone has the confidence to showcase their smile during this time. We have known this to be true amongst some of our patients in the past.

Smiles are a sign of happiness and joy. However, they can also be the cause of low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy. This is the case for many people who have misaligned teeth.

If you are amongst those individuals that hides their smile, we want you to know that we get it! We completely understand your sentiments but we also want you to know that there is a very powerful tool that can make a world of a difference to you. This tool is Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear aligner that is made of a very flexible thermoplastic material. It has gained a lot of popularity due to its ability to align smiles without the wires and brackets. This means that Invisalign aligners are essentially camouflaged with the smile they are fixing!

Invisaligns can treat issues such as overbite, underbite, and crossbite. They are also well-known for treating overcrowded smiles and gaps between teeth.

What are the Benefits of Invisalign?

We have a blog that highlights some of the pros and cons of choosing Invisalign as an aligner. Those points were mostly a comparison between Invisalign and other aligners. In this article, we want to address the extended benefits of using Invisalign. These are as follows:

Improved Gum Health

Crooked teeth often translate into difficult brushing and flossing. This means that there is a higher chance of plaque buildup. Plaque can cause havoc when it comes to oral health as it can lead to tartar and inflammation. Inflammation can easily lead to gum disease.

Invisalign aligners are great at correcting crooked teeth. In the long run, this means that your gum health will be improved since you will be able to reach all the intricate spaces within the teeth during brushing and flossing.

Prevent Tooth Decay

There is a positive domino effect that takes place when a smile is aligned. Gum disease is common amongst patients with overcrowded smiles. Gum disease has the ability to transition into tooth decay and tooth loss. Since Invisalign corrects the main source of the problem, crooked teeth, it will also help prevent tooth decay and tooth loss.

Comfort

Invisalign aligners are made from a soft thermoplastic material. They are comfortable to use while getting the job done. This is especially important for individuals who have sensitive gums!

Easy To Clean

Invisalign aligners are removable. This makes them incredibly easy to clean. All you have to do is take them off and gently brush them with toothpaste and warm water. They will be good as new each time before you reinstall them.

Safe For Children, Youth & Adults

Invisalign is safe for children, youth, and adults. We do want to note that while we are able to monitor children between 8 to 12 years of age for potential dental issues that include aligners, we often prefer to wait until the child is 13 or 14 years of age before we begin the correction process. This, of course, varies case by case. We are happy to assess your child and open up this conversation with you during your next visit to our office.

Invisalign aligners are a great option for anyone wanting to fix their smile. The benefits mentioned above are additional to the aligners’ main purpose of straightening the teeth. We truly believe that Invisalign is one of the most powerful tools available to help our patients find confidence in their smiles. It would be a joy to help you find your holiday cheer this season by helping you smile again.
