A person’s self-image is hands-down one of the most important things in today’s judgemental society. Studies have shown that in this day and age, people tend to care way more about their appearance and what others think of them, which means getting ahead of the game is no easy feat.

Though there is one thing you could do to improve that image of yours, and all from the comfort of your home too.

White teeth are quite a non-subjective part of someone’s appearance. There’s no one on this planet who could tell you they don’t want white teeth without lying through the very things they wish to be white. They’re wonderful, and can enhance someone’s appearance tenfold, simply by giving their face a brighter, more-noticeable smile.

So, if you want to give your teeth the whiteness they deserve, try some of these home remedies in order to fight off that pesky tartar.

Rub Your Teeth With Orange Peel

This one of those things you hear that leaves you sat there seriously doubting its integrity, but did you know that this far-fetched-sounding method actually works?

Rubbing the peel directly onto your teeth with help to fight off tartar-building microorganisms that have gathered there, resulting in whiter-looking teeth once the all the chemical magic has transpired.

Chewing Sesame Seeds

Not a fan of oranges, or more specifically, their peel? Then why not give sesame seeds a try instead?

You can use these small little treasures as a sort of dental scrub by grinding them up and popping them into your mouth, before dry-brushing away, making sure you get a nice coverage with the seeds. The seeds act as a non-harming scrub, and will safely scour the surfaces of your plaque-covered teeth.

Try Going Electrical

The topic has seen a huge range of debate, but time and time again, studies have shown that electric toothbrushes tend to be more efficient at removing plaque and tartar build-up on your pearly whites. It is usually down to the circular motion, which helps the bristles of the brush to really get in there and go to work, as opposed to just having them brush over the surface.

Eat More Spicy Food

This one is great for all you spice-heads out there!

Dental scientists have come out saying that spicy food is a great way to keep our teeth naturally clean, and the thought processes behind these claims are pretty much common sense. As you will know if you’ve ever eaten something hot, it makes your mouth water like crazy! That is good news for us though, because saliva is nature’s cleanser of the mouth, and in abundance, such as after eating a spicy dish, can come in very useful.

Mix Glycerine With Aloe Vera

Looking for a combo? Why not try mixing a cup of water, half a cup of baking soda, four teaspoons of vegetable glycerine and a teaspoon of aloe vera gel? After scrubbing your teeth with this strange-sounding combination, you’ll no doubt notice how much cleaner your teeth are – both in appearance and by feel.

Make Use Of These Tips and Tricks

Now that you have been given some strategies in which you can improve the look of your teeth and subsequently, your look as a whole, you can get right on with it and give your teeth the whiteness they deserve. Go on, get out there and show the world your smile!

As with any walk of life, be it an interest of people, or in a health related way such as in this instance, there are always rumours and myths about things that crop up out of nowhere . Perhaps these things start as someone having a joke or saying something foolish, which actually ends up getting passed on as gospel. Who knows?

One thing we do know however, is that over the years, we’ve heard some bizarre things about dental health, crazy falsities and myths that are just simply untrue. Some of them we’ve been able to laugh at because they’re just that ludicrous, while others we’ve had to be more cautious of, because they can actually lead to disastrous consequences.

That being said, here are three of the more commonly heard myths – so if you believe any of these, please let this be the day that you cease to do so.

A smile can paint a thousand words.

When you first meet someone your smile is the very first thing they will take in about you, the very first thing they will notice, so it’s important to have a bright beaming smile to reflect your equally bright and beaming personality.

Sadly, for some of us, that’s not such an easy-to-do thing. Some people suffer from misaligned teeth through no fault of their own, and begin to feel self-conscious about smiling. Thankfully though, there is a solution.

As our children grow up and become more independent, teaching them about dental hygiene is essential. Not only will it help them be more independent but it will also improve their confidence later in life.

A healthy smile influences more than most know. It affects our how we communicate, eat, drink and even our self-esteem. How are you supposed to be confident, when you have trouble expressing your emotions?

Dentists in Atlanta, Georgia  have found that “Older people report that they experienced low self-esteem much of their life because of their teeth. They felt they were born with this type of smile and there wasn’t much they could do.”

Teaching our kids to brush, floss, and see a dentist regularly is extremely important. A healthy smile inspires confidence and a willingness to smile more.
