Whilst brushing your teeth just becomes another one of those things in life that you just get on with and do because you know you have to, that doesn’t necessarily mean that all of us are brushing them correctly.

Brushing your teeth is like most things in life: there is a set way to do it that really maximizes the results – and maximizing results is something you definitely want when it comes to anything to do with health and wellbeing.

The Two Minute Rule

Brush Teeth Twice a Day for Two Minutes Each Time.

We’re sure that you’re all aware that the recommended time to spend brushing your teeth is two minutes, twice a day – at both morning and night. But the question is, how many of you are optimizing this process? Are you executing properly, doing specific things at specific times? Or are you just going through the motions, moving a brush around your mouth as if it doesn’t make a difference?

If the latter applies to you, then it’s time to get clued up.

The Four Sections

To simplify the process, we like to split the mouth into four sections: the upper right and left, and the lower right and left. This makes things way simpler, because instead of randomly scrubbing for two minutes, you can spend thirty seconds at a time focussing on one section and one section only.

Splitting up the brushing process like this helps you to focus more on cleaning your teeth properly and less on daydreaming about other random things. Following it with the next step is where the best cleaning takes place.

Front, Back, Top

Use Short, Fast Sideways Strokes.

This is self-explanatory. Sticking to the four sections, brush the backs, fronts and tops of your teeth, using short and fast sideways strokes on each area.

To put this process into an example, you might start on the upper right section of your mouth. You’ll start with the backs, going along them for maybe ten seconds or so, followed by the tops and then the fronts. Then you essentially go through the exact same process with the three other sections.

Once you’ve done that, rinse your mouth out, get your flossing done, and from there, your entire mouth will be squeaky clean. You’ll really notice a difference!

Sometimes it can seem like such a simple process, but it is easy to get lazy with brushing, and that never leaves to anything good. Unless of course you count fillings and missing teeth as something good…

Apply this knowledge to your brushing routine starting now, and literally feel the difference it creates just from simply altering the way in which you brush your teeth. Yes, it’s simple to do, but that doesn’t always mean it’s getting done right.

There’s nothing to worry about now though, you can go in in confidence now, knowing that your teeth are being cleaned with all of the effort and excellence they deserve.
